A twodimensionalmodelfortheelectroninteractionwithmolecularvibrationsinmolecularjunctionsis
proposed. Alternativelythemodelcanbeappliedtotunnelingthroughacylindricalnano-structure.The
transmission functioniscalculatedaccuratelynumerically.Theexactresultsarethencomparedwith
variousapproximations:(1)completelyfrozenvibrationsforverylightmolecule,(2)Chaseapproxima-
tion forveryheavymolecule,and(3)discrete-state-in-continuummodelinresonantregime.The
validityoftheseapproximationsisdiscussedintermsofthecharacteristictime-scalesandcoupling
strengths. Theexcitationofthevibrationaldegreeoffreedomandtheemergenceofprominentthreshold
structures inthestrongcouplingregimearediscussedinmoredetails
